The Yemeni actor Hamza, who has lived in China since childhood with his family, explored how a small village leverages its historical culture and natural resources to invigorate its agricultural, cultural, and tourism industries.

When he woke up in a rural homestay in Qingpu, Shanghai, and began his day of "rural life," he encountered a completely different side of "Shanghai", according to the press release.

The expansive fields of smart agriculture and the vast lands growing Chinese water bamboo shattered his previous notions of Shanghai's agriculture, Hamza told CNS.

During an experience weaving with water bamboo leaves, he also learned that this intangible cultural heritage skill could bring an annual export value of tens of millions of Chinese yuan.

The tranquil and friendly village was a "utopia", said Hamza, adding that Shanghai's countryside was bursting with vitality, complementing and integrating with the city's international metropolitan side already.
